He blinked and the town was silent again—sea-air and bottles in the sandy gutters—at rest, as if God had finally stopped the carnival.
Yeah… he’s pretty good with words. I’m a fan. Check out Flatswalker here.

At the airport and awaiting the flight. I’ll write and post pics when I can.
Aloha!
Man… my trip is sneaking up on me and I have to say, I’ve hardly had a chance to think about it. Normally at this time I would have tied up about 3 dozen flies and this time I’ve only tied about 6. Now, there is almost no room in my boxes for new flies since I tied so many for Andros, so maybe that is playing in.
I’m getting gear together (including a demo rod from Redington, a pack from Fishpond and a fly line from Rio). Might have some gear coming from Orvis.
I have a new tent (one that can withstand the rain, which seems like a 100% chance of falling) and a pad that will pack down tight.
Childcare is sorted (thank you to my ex for picking up a couple of days) and the trip is totally clear on the home front (thanks to my ex for being my ex and making me not have to beg for this opportunity to go).
Soon… soon I’ll be on the plane and on my way and I’m very much looking forward to a little time in the salt.

Me, exactly where I'm going to be.
From Derek down at Saltwater Experience. Don’t think I need to add much.

Fine, fine words over at Flatswalker.
The year is almost out and I’m faced with the very real prospect of having fished nearly all of it without catching a single one. And I mean fished, seriously fished. This year has been an almost single minded pursuit of a frustratingly elusive creature: the bonefish.
Flatswalker brings stories back from his early experiences chasing bones in the Caymans.
Irene is slamming the East Coast right about now, but it has gone through the Bahamas already and now it is time to asses the damage.
This story is from the AP. – “I met the kitchen door in the road…”
I spoke today with representatives from Ivels B & B on Acklins Island who are in Nassau, and Ivels B & B sustained minimal damage–some lost shingles, small pieces of roof, etc. . . No apparent injuries to anyone associated with Ivels on Acklins island. He did say he heard that some homes were flattened, but he could not elaborate where on Acklins.I also just spoke with Clinton Scavella from Crooked Island (he’s in Nassau) and everything on Crooked Island is ok, some roof damage and a lot of cleanup, but everyone is definitely safe there. He did say he heard that 19 homes were completely destroyed on Acklins, in the lovely bay/chesters area, and many others sustained heavy damage.
Lets pray that no one was seriously hurt.
I have heard second hand reports that some homes were damaged on Eleuthera, but nothing concrete yet.
From Vaughn Cochran who has Black Fly Bonefish Club in Abaco
Latest news from Clint…The lodge seems to have escaped with minor damage, amazing since we expected it to not even be there after 130 mph winds. Boats are OK and our guides and their families are safe also. clint is doing a flyover at some point today so I’ll have more details later.
I don’t know how I missed this, but my little blog had it’s second birthday last weekend. Two years of blogging, of learning, of meeting new people and going new places. Hard to argue with any of that.
Thank you for reading and for sharing and for going on this journey with me.

A tagged bonefish... nice.
