There are things that are not illegal, but are still immoral. I’d say that spearing an adult tarpon just so you can show it off a bit before throwing it away is, in fact, immoral. I guess this is happening in federal waters in the Gulf and it is pretty disgusting.

Hundreds of tarpon are being legally killed and trashed every winter, spring and summer by spearfishermen in Gulf coast states. This issue is important and needs to be addressed. These guys aren’t harvesting tarpon. They just kill them and boast – large females to be dissected and sampled and then thrown in the garbage!
This is not good. We need to figure out a way to keep this from happening.
That just sucks.

As one of the so Called Neanderthal Hell Divers, I am appalled at some of your comments. BLAH BLAH BLAH INDIGNATION AND JUSTIFICATIONS (added by me, the editor) (This is where the guy tries to get all high and mighty, saying more fish are killed by things like the PTTS… of course, he wouldn’t know that this group is pretty much appalled by the PTTS and actively works against it. His reasoning goes something like “You don’t like that I shoot dogs for sport? Well, more dogs are killed every year by cars than by my group of spear hunters so before you get upset about me killing dogs you need to look at what you are doing with your damn cars!” It is a lame argument. It fails and I won’t allow that kind of crap here. So, Hell Divers, go post in your own forum about how mad you are that we are mad at you, but you won’t get the space here.)
