I figured I’d devote an entire week to bonefish t-shirts and give a little shout out to the ones I’m loving from around the web.
First… Deneki now has an on-line store. You can get their pretty frigging cool looking bonefish shirt here.

Love it.

Couldn’t pass up pointing you good, bonefish loving peeps to Deneki and their Catch magazine post.
Brian O’Keefe and Todd Moen from Catch Magazine joined us at Andros South last month, and today we get to share some of their work!
Check it out.
His name actually is Andrew Bennett, but he’s the guy behind Deneki Outdoor. Here’s a cool interview that Fishing Jones did.
Here’s a sample question asked…
You’re Ivy League; shouldn’t you be launching a tech start-up or bundling subprime mortgages?
Check out the interview to see the answer.
Fishing Jones, is, of course, Pete McDonald, who is part of the Pulp Fly writing project. A great number of the writers for the project came out of FIBFest (Bruce Smithhammer, Pete McDonald, Michael Gracie and myself). A lot of good things have happened there at Andros South. Good job Andrew.

When I was at FIBFest last year, one of the pleasures of being there was meeting Kyle who just happened to do a guest piece over at Deneki. A good read for those heading out to chase bones for the first time.

Kyle, on deck.
I saw this post about helping your double haul and thought “Yeah, people should probably see this.”
So… I’m sharing it with you good people.
Tim Rajeff giving double haul tips. Get ye to Deneki to check it out.
Ya know what I like? I like seeing my backing. Backing is awesome. Not a lot of trout get me there.
What kind of backing you put behind that fly line is a question you find yourself asking a lot more when it comes to things like bonefish as opposed to brookies. Turns out you don’t need any backing if you are doing the tenkara thing.
So… you may be interested in how the discussion went over at Deneki when it had to do with backing.
Check it.
I got an email from Andrew at Deneki today. His outfit owns and operates Andros South and it turns out one of his guides, Norman, has encountered a tragedy. Norman’s young daughter Nala died last week in an accident on South Andros. I’m pretty sure I talked to Norman about Nala when I fished with him during FIBFest last year.
Norman is a really nice and quiet guy. He comes across as professional, honest and knowledgeable in his guiding and I got the sense from him that he was a pretty solid all around guy.

Norman could use some help right now to cover the costs for the funeral. If you’d like to help out, you can contribute to this fund, set up by Deneki. You won’t get a tax deduction, but it is still worth doing.
Sending good thoughts to Norman. I can’t imagine what he’s going through.
Turns out Matt Smythe won the Haiku contest over at Deneki.
It makes sense. He does have the blog “FishingPoet.”

Matt, just so you know, is a contributor to a soon-to-be-released ebook anthology of fly fishing short fiction called Pulp Fly. You’ll be hearing more about that little project very, very soon.
(This, it says, is my 1,000th post, just so you know)
Deneki has a habit of pounding out really exceptional bonefishing content. 2011 was no exception.
Here is a list of their top bonefishing posts from 2011.
This was the year that I got to go to Andros South. It is a very special place. The Slack Tide Bar, the food, the guides the WATER. Exceptional.

Great Place.
OK, you have a shrimp pattern tied on and a bonefish at 11:00… now what?
From the first time I cast at a bonefish up until the last trip I’ve had plenty of times when I had a fly out there in the general vicinity and wondered “How the hell should I be stripping this?”
The good folks at Deneki have taken a shot at this, as you’d expect they would.
